The Increasing Threat from China
Why we started PureSource
My name is Guy Barnett and I am part of the PureSource team. I wanted to personally write to you to thank you for joining our email newsletter. For this first email, I will tell you why we decided to start PureSource.
For the last year or so, we have become increasingly worried about the threat China poses. Whether it was Chinese spy balloons flying over the US, Chinese ships ramming our ally's ships, Chinese kill switches devices found in our infrastructure that could cause widespread blackouts, China secretly operating police stations in the USA, Chinese nationals repeatedly trespassing on U.S. military sites and secure facilities—the list goes on and on—it was becoming clear to us that China is acting in an ever more aggressive and dangerous manner toward United States and our allies. Although there are other countries that have acted against our interests and/or in ways that are morally abhorrent, China stands out as the most powerful and therefore most dangerous.
But what can anyone do about it? Answer: vote with your wallet. It makes a difference when you stop financially supporting a regime that threatens America and our allies.
However, we quickly realized that avoiding Chinese-made products is a lot easier said than done. Since you're reading this newsletter, you probably already know how frustrating it can be to find American-made goods or for that matter, any country other than China. Don't get me started on the trials and tribulations of finding even a basic light bulb that isn't made in China!
But over the last six months, we’ve also learned that although finding them wasn't always easy, it wasn't impossible. We’re constantly finding new amazing companies and products that are made outside of China (many of them made right here in America). In fact, it's pretty rare these days that we can't eventually find the products we want; it just requires time and effort.
And this brings me to the founding of PureSource. We realized that a website should exist that makes it easy to find exactly what you want made in whatever country you choose. Although some websites already exist that provide helpful information and tools, none of them offer anything like the speed and convenience of websites like Amazon. At PureSource, we are determined to solve that problem. Our goal is to populate our website with every conceivable consumer product, enabling people to quickly find all available options—without resorting to Chinese resellers. Whether you're looking for a knit wool sweater, a Father's Day greeting card, a limbing axe with a wooden handle, bubble gum flavored flossers for your children, wired headphones that are less than $50, and, yes, even light bulbs, we will make it possible for you to: "Find the products you love from the places you want."
Because this email is already so long, I'll leave it at that, but I would love to hear from any of you that have questions or suggestions. Feel free to email me at gbarnett@the-pure-source.com and I will respond. Also, let me know what content you would like in this newsletter. In future emails, we will share updates on our progress in building the website, plans for the future, as well as highlighting companies or products that we think you will love.
Lastly, please feel free to share this link with anyone you think might be interested in signing up for our newsletter: https://the-pure-source.com/welcome
Sincerely,
